Deerhunter

'Sunday Redux' (concert film)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 28, 2013

Since Deerhunter became the subject of the concert film Sunday Redux in 2010, the band have released two albums (that year's Halcyon Digest and 2013's Monomania) and underdone lineup changes — not to mention sonic ones as well. Now, they're digging back into the archives, as director John Albrecht has posted the film online.

Taking place at the Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln, NE, the concert happened in the lead-up to Halcyon Digest, when the band's lineup consisted of Bradford Cox, Lockett Pundt, Moses Archuleta and Josh Fauver. The hour-and-a-half-long film is of high quality and finds the band performing some then new tunes like "Helicopter" and "Revival," along with older favourites like "Nothing Ever Happened." Much of it is filmed from the sides of the stage and through the crowd, a rough-around-the-edges approach that gives the impression you're actually there.

As previously reported, Deerhunter have a North American tour coming up, with Canadian dates lined up for Vancouver, Victoria and Toronto. See the schedule here.
