At a nearly punk-free festival, Brooklyn-via-Baltimore, Australia, etc. agitators, the Death Set held a novel position in a diverse lineup, and they made the most of it.
With a selection of apropos samples (including a well-timed Dizzee Rascal nod) and a penchant for caustic guitars, the three-piece instigated an outsized mosh pit as singer Johnny Siera climbed the stage.
Live, Siera is a dynamo and his shit-eating vocals and shouts of encouragement nearly caused a riot on "Around the World," "Slap Slap Slap Pound Up Down Snap" and "Intermission," especially when the latter slyly name checked, um, the Death Set.
Sweaty, shirtless hugging and backslapping ensued.
