Dead Again are made up of members of Rotting Hills, Inhaler, Anion and Swallowed Whole, but the Vancouver metal troupe carve out their own nefarious niche on their destructive new LP, Occultus Lake.
It's a brutalizing effort full of detuned sludge ("The Sleeper Has Awakened"), multi-passaged numbers balancing gloom with scissor-beat thrash ("Occultus Lake"), and crusty, His Hero Is Gone-styled mini-blasts ("Bug Hunt"). Judging by the torturous, Cenobite-referencing lyrics of singer Cole Benoit on the devastating "The Lament Configuration," the dude enjoys curling up with a good Clive Barker book before bedtime.
