After tweeting their admiration for each other's work these past few years, David Crosby and Jason Isbell played together at the 2018 Newport Folk Festival, and more recently shared the stage at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre this past September. Now, they have joined forces in the studio.
Earlier this week, Isbell shared a selfie with Crosby with the caption, "In the studio with Santa Croz."
It's another studio update from Isbell, who confirmed in another post earlier this month that he is at work on a follow-up to 2017's The Nashville Sound with producer Dave Cobb.
Rolling Stone notes that a representative from Isbell's record label said Crosby was only in the studio to hear the album, and could not confirm a collaboration. However, Crosby wrote on Twitter yesterday (December 11) that he was "goin to sing with Jason and Amanda [Shires]....hoooboy....going to be some serious fun."
Crosby also mentioned the possibility of playing live with Isbell again in the new year. "I believe we are playing together again this summer in NYC and DC and I flat love his band," he wrote.
Of Isbell's new material, Crosby offered, "have to tell you the songs he's got recorded are going to blow your minds into next week."
