The 28th anniversary edition of Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival kicks off this June, and ahead of the full lineup announcement, organizers have shared one of the fest's foremost headliners.

Singer-songwriter/Canadian indie hero Dan Mangan will top the bill at the festival's free concert series, performing at the Rideau Carleton Casino Hillside Stage at Mooney's Bay Park. Mangan will make his way to the country's capital on the festival's opening night on June 25.

"We are thrilled to have Dan Mangan joining us at this summer's festival," said the festival's artistic director Antony Cooper in a stateemnt. "It's been five years since Dan last graced our stage and there's no better way to spend a hot summer night at the beach than to gather with friends and enjoy a free outdoor concert with one of Canada's absolute best!"

Aside from the festival's 5,000-competitor dragon boat race and musical performances, attendees can also enjoy a variety of programming, including performances from Chinese Lion Dancers and RCAF Pipes and Drums, as well as activities like volleyball, tai chi and more. As always, the festival's events are entirely free.

So far, no other musical performers have been announced, but stay tuned as more details unfold about the festival lineup.
