Country Teasers

Destroy All Human Life

BY Sean PalmerstonPublished Sep 1, 1999

Surprisingly, the latest from these drunken Scottish sods is being offered up on delta blues label Fat Possum. The Teasers’ unique style of juxtaposing Fall-influenced post punk with ‘50s country leaves a garage-tinged taste in my mouth. The Teasers continue down the same cobbled road of their past two efforts, albeit in a much tamer frame of mind. Whereas their past two Crypt releases seemed full of angst and despair, Destroy All Human Life rides the fine line between melancholy and mediocrity. Perhaps they have exorcised all their demons, maybe they just do no give a shit anymore — whatever the case, the Teasers lost me somewhere along the way.
