Toronto singer-songwriter Charlotte Cornfield has revealed plans for her next full-length album. Titled The Shape of Your Name, the LP will arrive on April 5 as the first release on Outside Music's new imprint Next Door Records.

The full-length follows 2016's Future Snowbird and embraces a more polished studio sound than its predecessor. The album was recorded in five sessions across three years and features collaborators like Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning and Charles Spearin, as well as Shawn Everett and Leif Vollebekk.

Cornfield's former roommate Nigel Ward produced the album, based off of songs that came out of Cornfield's residency at the Banff Centre.

"He fell into the producer role seamlessly," Cornfield said in a statement. "We took it slow and just tried things for a while until the vision settled in. There was no rush. It was freeing, and it gave the songs a lot of breathing room to develop."

The first song to arrive from the collection is called "Andrew." She said the song could be about a friend or a romantic partner, but that it's primarily a "reminder to step back and look at the bigger picture instead of dwelling on the minutiae."

It's accompanied by a video from director Adrienne McLaren and director of photography Thom Varey, with the clip featuring Cornfield's good friend Sam Rosenburg — and a cameo from Canning.
