Long-running Californian post-punkers Ceremony have released a video for "Vanity Spawned by Fear," the title track for their new 12-inch single, out now via Relapse.
The track furthers the band's previous exploration of more experimental sounds and moods found on albums like 2019's In the Spirit World Now, with a gloomy atmosphere, ominous groove and unexpected sax solos coming off like an updated version of a mid-period Damned single.
In a press release, Ceremony guitarist Anthony Anzaldo Jr. said of the track: "We do our best to keep futility a secret, a cognitive exercise with feeble reward. The Poppy field reminds us that not all things are meant to be altered. In California, Vanity is spawned by fear."
The video arrives ahead of an upcoming North American tour with Turnstile and Citizen. The tour, which kicks off April 21 in Santa Ana, CA, has stops in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
