Canadian Music Week Returns with Virtual 2021 Edition

Buffy Sainte-Marie, Timbaland, Nile Rodgers, Raine Maida and more will speak at the virtual conference

After pausing festivities in 2020, Canadian Music Week has returned with plans for a 2021 virtual edition taking place from May 18 to 21. This year's event will feature a virtual conference and a showcase festival, as well as the 20th anniversary edition of the Independent Music Awards.

The CMW virtual conference will feature interviews and keynote appearances by Buffy Sainte-Marie, Timbaland, Dallas Austin, Raine Maida and Chantal Kreviazuk, Nile Rodgers, Island Records' Chris Blackwell, Desmond Child, Sam Hollander, Sound Exchange's Michael Huppe, Suzy Shinn, 300 Entertainment's Kevin Liles, Rolling Stone writer Ethan Millman and many more.

On May 21, streaming live from Toronto's El Mocambo, Monowhales, July Talk, Sam Roberts Band, Walk Off the Earth and CZN will perform for the festival's 20th anniversary Independent Music Awards. The event will be hosted by Indie88's Matt Hart, Carlin Burton and Josie Dye.

This year's celebrations will be free to the public and will be streaming live and available to rewatch at the CMW website.
