Last month, Bright Eyes released "Persona Non Grata," their first song in nine years. Now, the band have shared a new track titled "Forced Convalescence," the second song from their forthcoming album, set to arrive later this year.
The song follows a marching drum beat as the instruments swell in and out, while the band's core trio of Conor Oberst, Nate Walcott and Mike Mogis are joined by an eight-piece choir. But the most notable addition for this track is Flea, on loan from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, whose fretboard-hopping bass stylings can be heard all over the song's sparser verses.
Bright Eyes announced their reunion earlier this year, and outlined a world tour originally set to take place this spring and summer. Those dates have been postponed due to coronavirus — hopefully, when they reschedule, they remember to add some Canadian dates to the itinerary.
