Sure, the 1975's Matty "Slack-Jawed Fuckwit" Healy has said a lot of things, but he's not alone in wanting Oasis to get back together.
Despite the continued marding between Liam and Noel Gallagher effectively putting reunion rumours to rest, Damon Albarn of Blur isn't buying it — in fact, he's got his money on the Britpop greats finally reconciling.
Does he know something we don't? In a new interview with UK tabloid The Sun, Albarn said he can "guarantee" that "[Oasis] will reform," adding, "In fact, I've put money on it."
"They're brothers and it would be wonderful to see them reconcile," he continued, explaining that he thinks Noel's impending divorce will have had a dramatic effect on the relationship between the ever-feuding siblings.
Albarn echoed similar sentiments in another recent interview with Consequence, telling journalist Charlotte Gunn, "The road is clear for [Oasis] to [reunite] now. I think that's great. You know what I mean?"
He added, "Obviously I expect an excellent new record to accompany it." With Blur gearing up to release their first new album in eight years, The Ballad of Darren, Albarn is clearly convinced that the time is nigh for Oasis — their biggest rivals in the genre — to get the ol' band back together just to once again be bested in the Britpop chart battle.
After all, history does tend to repeat itself. However, in 2017, Albarn extended an olive branch by recruiting Noel to sing on a Gorillaz track — a collaboration the Gallagher brother said would probably make his younger self aim a knife at his own bollocks. Charming!
