We recently heralded Vancouver, BC's Black Wizard as the latest in a long line of no-nonsense, hard-hitting bands to emerge from BC's vibrant metal scene. Well, we're sad to report that their future has been thrown into jeopardy, as guitarist Johnny de Courcy has quit the group.
In a recent Facebook update, the axe-man wrote, "after much consideration, i (johnny) have decided to go my separate ways with black wizard. i hope that they keep going without me because they are too fucking talented not to. thank you to everyone who came to our shows/bought the merch for making this such a positive time."
As for the future of the band, he added, "black wizard will be on hiatus until further notice." De Courcy's final show with the outfit took place last Friday (April 1) at Vancouver's Interurban Gallery.
Black Wizard released their self-titled album in 2010, and earlier this year, they dropped the Mountain Bitch seven-inch. If you love epic guitar solos and headbanging guitar riffage, crank up your speakers and listen below.
Thanks to NxEW for the heads-up.
