The Black Dahlia Murder

'Abysmal' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 14, 2015

Fans of the Black Dahlia Murder are doubtless hoping that the album Abysmal doesn't live up to its name. Now, they can find out for sure, since the Michigan melodic death metal band have shared a stream of the whole thing.

Opener "Receipt" begins the album with classical strings, but it's only 21 seconds before the guitars come in and the song transforms into a merciless metal assault of lightning double-kick, explosive guitar distortion and ghoulish growls. With the exception of the spooky ambient intro of "Stygiophobic" and the strings at the beginning of the closing "That Cannot Die Which Eternally Is Dead," the rest of the album is punishingly heavily and demonic.

Hear it all below. Abysmal officially lands on September 18 through Metal Blade.
