Recently decreed the "best blues-based record to ever come out of Canada" by Jack White, Big Sugar are celebrating the Third Man Records deluxe vinyl reissue of their seminal 1993 sophomore album, 500 Pounds, with a tour of Western Canada.
Dubbed An Evening with Big Sugar, the band will play career-spanning double sets in theatres across the western part of the country. "The theatre setting gives us the opportunity to explore a much wider range of styles," Gordie Johnson explained in a statement, "but it is still a Big Sugar rock and roll show!"
It all begins at the end of the month with a pair of Alberta shows in Red Deer (February 27) and Calgary (February 28). From there, the band will make a single stop in Brandon, MB, on March 2 before picking things back up in British Columbia come April, with concerts in Fernie (April 17), Kelowna (April 19), Vancouver (April 20), Victoria (April 21) and Kamloops (April 25). The tour wraps on April 27 in Saskatoon.
Just in time to give your sugar something big for Valentine's, tickets go on sale Wednesday (February 14) at 10 a.m. PT, with a presale happening tomorrow (February 13) with the code "500POUNDS." See the itinerary in full below.
