Bad Brains' H.R. to Undergo Brain Surgery
Last year, it was revealed that Bad Brains vocalist H.R. (a.k.a. Paul Hudson) had been diagnosed with a rare neurobiological condition causing him cluster headaches. Now, Hudson will undergo surgery for the condition later this month.

Loudwire reports that Hudson will undergo surgery for his "Suicide Syndrome" headaches on February 21. The proper medical terminology labels the condition SUNCT, "a trigeminal neuralgia that is similar to cluster headaches."

UPDATE (2/21, 5 p.m. EST): In a Facebook post, H.R.'s family has said he's now recovering, writing, "Thank you for your many, many prayers! Surgery went well and he looks good. Now the recovery begins.... We certainly have cause for celebration. However, it may take some time to see if H.R.'s surgery was successful in relieving the headaches."

News of the treatment comes after Bad Brains fans raised more than $16,000 USD to help cover the cost through a GoFundMe campaign.

Hudson also told Loudwire that he has been treating the condition with a "cocktail of pharmaceuticals," in addition to more natural methods. "I've been dealing with spiralina, wheatgrass, goldenseal and Vitamin A, D and C," he said. "I did experience some improvement with these."

He added that his doctor has performed the operation over 200 times. We wish H.R. the best with the upcoming surgery.
