Avril Lavigne Brings "Bite Me" to 'The Tonight Show' — and Travis Barker's There Too

Late Night Goes Punk

BY Megan LaPierrePublished Nov 24, 2021

The Avril Lavigne renaissance — heavily featuring omnipresent pop-punk godfather Travis Barker — continues: last night (November 24), Napanee, ON's crown jewel performed her new single "Bite Me" on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon with the Blink-182 drummer in tow.

Earlier this month, Lavigne announced her signing to Barker's DTA Records, through which "Bite Me" is her first release. She described her new label home as a "natural fit," having first worked with Barker — a collaborator who just "gets" her — all the way back in 2007 on The Best Damn Thing.

The dress code for the late-night performance was strictly red and leather, with no exceptions. If you look closely, Barker's not the only familiar face in the band: Lavigne's current partner and musician Mod Sun also lends his prowess to the biting performance.

While she's shortened the "Hey, hey / you you" to just a drawn-out "Hey, you," the motherfucking princess seems to be finding herself grounded and empowered in a sound that recalls her roots; and for that, we'll forgive the use of the word "wifey."

Watch the performance below.

Aside from late-night TV, Barker also appears very comfortable at weddings with his fiancée Kourtney Kardashian.
