Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Ashley McBryde releases her fourth effort (and second major label album) Never Will, produced by Jay Joyce. McBryde responds to haters with "Shut Up Sheila," filled with reverb, echo effects and a finger-picking guitar hook. Lead single "One Night Standards" features harmony vocals from Chris Harris, while a loud and booming drum pattern creates tension on "Martha Divine."

Traditional country is on offer with "First Thing I Reach For," which uses a pedal steel guitar and a tongue-in-cheek lyrical hook, while the pop country of "Voodoo Doll" has a rockin' melodic chorus that echoes Carrie Underwood with melting guitar solos. "Sparrow" has a Reba McEntire twang, and the Tanya Tucker-esque "Velvet Red" contrasts against the title track, which undertakes an alternative rock approach.

McBryde stretches musically and melodically to incorporate country, pop and alternative rock sounds, while her lyrics are brazen, badass and unexpectedly beautiful.
