Angel Olsen has shared the penultimate track from her upcoming record Big Time — "Through the Fires" is described as "the centerpiece statement" of the record, and it's a big, beautiful, stately ballad.
"'Through the Fires' is the centerpiece statement of this record," Olsen said in accompanying press materials. "It's a song I wrote to remind myself that this life is temporary, the past is not something to dwell on, that it's important to keep moving, keep searching for the people that are also searching, and to notice the moments that are lighter and bigger than whatever trouble I've encountered."
"I felt the change / And it came back around / Then I moved in to the feeling I found," Olsen sings over glowering piano and swooping strings, before the song erupts into a chorus of coos and sighs. It comes attached to a lyric video shot by Angela Ricciardi.
"Through the Fires" follows previously shared singles "All the Good Times" and "Big Time." Big Time arrives June 3 on Jagjaguwar.
