Angel Olsen Announces New Album 'Big Time,' Shares Lead Single "All the Good Times"

The album was inspired by Olsen's coming out and the subsequent death of her parents

Angel Olsen has announced her new album Big Time, arriving June 3 on Jagjaguwar. The full-length follow-up to 2019's All Mirrors is being introduced by lead single and opening track "All the Good Times," which comes attached to a cinematic, Kimberly Stuckwisch-directed video.

In a press release, Olsen said that Big Time was inspired by her coming out as queer to her parents. "Some experiences just make you feel as though you're five years old, no matter how wise or adult you think you are," she wrote. "Finally, at the ripe age of 34, I was free to be me."

However, only three days after that conversation, Olsen's father died. Her mother would follow two weeks later. Three weeks after this second unexpected funeral, Olsen was in the studio recording Big Time

Big Time is said to be a stripped-back affair after the gargantuan drama of All Mirrors, and first single "All the Good Times" certainly fits that bill. It's a shimmery, rambling country tune awash in organ and pedal steel, with Olsen singing, "I can't say that I'm sorry / When I don't feel so wrong anymore."

In 2020, Olsen released the All Mirrors companion album Whole New Mess. In 2021, she shared the Sharon Van Etten collaboration "Like I Used To" and announced the Wild Hearts Tour with Van Etten and Julien Baker

The video for "All the Good Times" is a non-linear road-trip drama featuring Olsen's partner. Check it out, along with the Big Time tracklist, below.
