André 3000 to Co-Star in Second Season of 'American Crime'

Outkast member André 3000 previously teamed up with director John Ridley when he took on a starring role in the 2013 Jimi Hendrix biopic Jimi: All Is by My Side. Now, the rapper known more formally as André Benjamin is set to work with Ridley again, this time by appearing in the forthcoming season of ABC's American Crime.

This is the second reason of the show, and it will feature entirely new characters (rather than act as a continuation of the first season). André will play Michael Lacroix, an esteemed Midwest architect who, along with his wife Terri (played by Regina King), must defend his son when he becomes embroiled in a scandal at school. The plot reportedly concerns issues of gender identity and sexual orientation.

"Personally, I couldn't be more excited than to work again with André," Ridley told The Hollywood Reporter. "He is an amazing individual, a true artist, and All Is by My Side is one of the reasons I was given the reins on American Crime. Folks at ABC were absolutely moved by Andre's performance in the film, and by the overall language of cinema we used in telling the story. It's fair to say American Crime might not exist were it not for our previous collaboration."

Although American Crime's characters will be different in the second reason, some of the actors will be the same, as Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, Richard Cabral, Elvis Nolasco and Lili Taylor will all return. New co-stars include Angelique Rivera, Connor Jessup and Joey Pollari.
