After a remarkably long wait, we finally get a proper view of André 3000's film role as Jimi Hendrix in an upcoming biopic. The film, which premiered at TIFF, has received a proper theatrical trailer.
The film has been written off by some, and for good reason — the filmmakers couldn't obtain the rights to any of Hendrix's actual music. That said, the trailer for the film (which was directed by 12 Years a Slave scribe John Ridley) makes it look pretty awesome. André seems to have disappeared into the role, and the fake Hendrix tunes (in the trailer at least) are passable for the purpose they serve.
Check out the trailer for All Is By My Side below. The film hits select theatres on September 26.
