Put Anathema onstage with a string quartet, let them loose to play some of their most emotional songs and film it from all directions with intimate close-ups and long shots over a sea of clapping hands, and what you get is A Moment in Time. This 2006 concert shows a band transcending genre and form clearly a collective feat, although its the vocal and physical gyrations of Vincent Cavanagh that focus the spectacle. A lopsided set-list stands as the DVDs main oddity (mostly drawn from Alternative 4 and A Natural Disaster, and the only thing older comes as bonus live clips) but aesthetically, A Moment in Time flows with a poignant elegance that is hard to resist.
