Toronto-via-Edmonton's Altameda have announced plans for their third full-length record, Born Losers, due April 15 via Missing Piece/Pheromone Records.
Today, the group have shared the record's third single "Nightmare Town," which arrives alongside visuals by drummer Erik M. Grice. The track follows in the folky footsteps of previously released singles "Dead Man's Suit" and "Wheel of Love," which also appear on the record.
"The concept for the song 'Nightmare Town' was influenced largely by the film Badlands, and the true story that the film is loosely based on," explained bandleader Troy Snaterse.
"While the violence of those stories has no place in 'Nightmare Town,' I found the desperation of the characters compelling," Snaterse continued. "I will always love my hometown, however, the desire to change your geographical placement for the sake of adventure and spiritual growth is something that I'm sure most people can relate to at some point in their lives."
He added: "I imagined a young couple daydreaming about stealing a car and making a break for it to some undetermined destination, stopping at nothing to achieve freedom from their circumstances."
Born Losers will mark the band's official follow-up to 2019's Time Hasn't Changed You.
