Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — congresswoman for New York's 14th congressional district — has paid tribute to one of Canada's rising West Coast hip-hop stars.

Last night (March 24), in a lengthy Instagram Story calling out the treatment of SCOTUS nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson during her confirmation hearings this week, AOC also shouted out Kimmortal and soundtracked her story with the Vancouver hip-hop artist's track "Sad Femme Club."

In text accompanying the story, AOC explained that the song was "my anthem this week for watching one of the most qualified SCOTUS nominees in US history be treated with extra disrespect as a Black woman."

AOC also sang along to the lyric: "If I lose my shit right now / Will I just be dismissed right now." Kimmortal reposted a section of the story on their Instagram page, with the caption including "this is for all you badass feminists existing rn! You are enough!!!" See that below.

Back in 2020, Kimmortal also received a shout-out in Exclaim's Ten Acts You Can't Miss at POP Montreal.
