It's been a while since we've heard from Alessia Cara. Over nine years on from her moody debut with blockbuster hit single "Here," the Brampton singer-songwriter last released new music in 2021, when she appeared on the cover of Exclaim! in celebration of the release of her third album, In the Meantime.
Now, after a lot of hinting, Cara has announced that she's dropping her comeback single this Friday (July 19). The track, entitled "Dead Man," will arrive alongside a music video, for which she just shared a teaser on Instagram.
Based on the short snippet of audio offered in the clip, "Dead Man" sounds like it has the artist — who looks dressed to kill — in her soulful, sassy bag with a sauntering bass line that feels like an homage to Amy Winehouse. Check it out below, and stay tuned to hear the full song later this week.
