For whatever reason, Aussie rockers AC/DC have been using a high-concept tease method to build anticipation for their new album, and it's working. They've been sharing red lightning bolt images, hinting at their album title and teasing their new lineup. Today, they've gone a step further and offered a 30-second snippet of a new song.
Don't worry — even though they're using an album campaign rollout that feels like it was thought up by a creative agency in 2010, the tune sounds very much like every other AC/DC song. "Shot in the Dark" is a mid-tempo rocker with plenty of raspy singing, plodding bass lines and anthemic guitar parts.
Whether or not the album is actually called PWR UP — or maybe Power Up — is yet to be seen. The teasers are working, though — we just really want to know now.
AC/DC's new album will follow 2014's Rock or Bust, though rumours of a new album have been circulating since 2018. The effort is said to feature unused guitar tracks from Malcolm Young.
