A week after some leaked photos pointed to a comeback from AC/DC, the Aussie rock icons have begun properly teasing announcement themselves.

Today, the band gave their social channels the requisite pre-announcement makeover, changing their profile photos to the neon red lightning bolt you see above. Along with that, the group shared a short clip of the fixture coming alight.

The coloured bolt looks similar to that which appeared in multiple leaked photos, published by fansite AC/DC Brasil after they were posted and quickly pulled by the band. Those pointed to a lineup featuring vocalist Brian Johnson, drummer Phil Rudd, bassist Cliff Williams, and guitarists Angus and Stevie Young.

AC/DC's most recent album remains 2014's Rock or Bust, though rumours concerning a follow-up have been abound since the band were photographed exiting a Vancouver recording studio in 2018. Last year, the band's sound engineer confirmed the band were in the studio working on new material.

This past January, Australian radio host Eddie McGuire said AC/DC would be releasing their new album either in February or March. While the pandemic almost certainly derailed those plans, Twisted Sister's Dee Snider recently said the album and tour were postponed due to COVID-19.

While further details on the as-yet-untitled new album have yet to be shared, the effort is said to feature unused guitar tracks from late guitarist Malcolm Young.
