Abdominal & the Obliques

Introducing his backing band The Obliques, Abdominal performed an intimate set of oxygen burning wordplay at the Supermarket. A duo of guitar and drums, the Obliques brought a chilled funky vibe to Abdominal's clever rhymes, which he varied up on this occasion with some successful attempts at singing. The highlight, as usual, was Abdominal's obligatory freestyle, given mad spice by the jazzy grooved-out jam being improvised behind it. This set wasn't distinctly high energy compared to previous engagements, but with the whole band seated, that didn't seem to be the point - a different beast, but full of familiar charm.
