In the midst of the band's "Spaceman Reissue Program," Spiritualized's Jason Pierce has shared that new music could arrive sooner than we think.

Speaking with Aquarium Drunkard, Pierce made the reveal while reflecting on the recent reissues of Spiritualized's first four albums, sharing that a follow-up to 2018's And Nothing Hurt could arrive in 2022:

AD: That's beautiful. What are you working on now?

Jason Pierce: Not much. I just finished a record. I'm kind of kicking my heels at the moment.

AD: When is it coming out?

Jason Pierce: Early next year.

AD: Will it be Spiritualized?

Jason Pierce: It's a Spiritualized record as well. That seems like a weird kind of accomplishment.

While additional details are slim, Pierce's comments indicate that there will not be a six-year gap between records like there was between And Nothing Hurt and 2012's Sweet Heart Sweet Light. Additionally, they point to the former release not being the last-ever Spiritualized album, as Pierce had suggested in 2016.

Announce this past February, Spiritualized's "Spaceman Reissue Program" will see the band's first four albums treated to "definitive vinyl editions."

The latest to get the treatment is 1997's Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space, with the reissue arriving tomorrow (September 10) through Fat Possum.
