With easier access to recording and releasing music than ever before, how does one break through all of the clutter and stand out? There are myriad theories and no one clear answer, but one music manager thinks he's cracked the code — stop releasing albums and focus on singles.

Jay McLain, a music marketer and manager of at least five acts, brought his theory to Twitter where he suggested that people don't want to hear a full onslaught of music from a project they've never heard of before:
 

While some agreed with his point, others took it as an opportunity to defend the album — or even just the idea that artists should do whatever the hell they want.
