Hollywood continues to have an obsession with hip-hop biopics. Following Straight Outta Compton and this month's long-awaited Tupac biopic All Eyez on Me, producers have focused in on sexed-up party rappers 2 Live Crew for a new flick.
According to Deadline, production has kicked into high gear on The Book of Luke, based on the book of the same about the band and their leader Luther Campbell.
More specifically, the story follows 2 Live Crew's landmark legal battle with Roy Orbison over their sampling of his song "Pretty Woman." The lawsuit made its way all the way to the Supreme Court, where 2 Live Crew ultimately won.
RJ Cyler, best known for Me, Earl and the Dying Girl, is set to play Campbell in the film. Mike Epps is among those executive producing the project.
Stay tuned for more details on the movie as they become available.
