Dudes rock. They also wrestle, and deal with deep-seated familial pain and the pitfalls of traditional masculinity. Such is the vibe of the newly shared trailer for Sean Durkin's The Iron Claw (which features a score from Richard Reed Parry), the upcoming biographical sports film that tells the story of the allegedly cursed Von Erich wrestling family.
The film stars Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson and Stanley Simons (all in various lengths and shades of blonde mullets) as the Von Erich boys, Holt McCallany as their father Fritz, Maura Tierney as their mother Doris and Lily James as Efron's love interest and eventual wife, Pam Adkisson.
The film follows the rise and various falls of the iconic, deeply troubled family as they navigate their lives within a wrestling dynasty. The trailer features some good ol' fashion training montages and in-the-ring drama, plus a glimpse of Kevin Von Erich (Efron) building a family as his own falls apart. It looks dramatic!
The Iron Claw arrives in theatres December 22. Check out the trailer below.
