Watch the Epic Trailer for Disney's Live-Action 'Lion King'

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 10, 2019

The Lion King is the latest Disney movie to be treated to a live-action remake, and the first official trailer has just arrived.

Following last year's teaser trailer, viewers can get a 90-second glance at the upcoming Jon Favreau-directed film.

The CGI feat gives us a better look at Simba, as well as father Mufasa, pals Timon and Pumbaa, love interest Nala, and evil uncle Scar and hyena cronies — and they're even scarier than in the original animated picture.

The impressive scenery, meanwhile, mimics shots from the original movie, but obviously adds some totally fake realism into the mix.

As previously reported, Donald Glover and Beyoncé star as Simba and Nala, respectively. Other notable names in the cast include James Earl Jones (reprising his original role as Mufasa), Chiwetel Ejiofor (as Scar), Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner (as Timon and Pumbaa), John Oliver (as Zazu), Eric André (as Azizi) and Keegan-Michael Key (as Kamari).

The Lion King hits theatres July 19. Watch the official trailer below.
