Earlier this week, Kevin Spacey revealed that he had booked his first film role since 2017, when at least 16 people accused him of sexual misconduct. Though she had initially appeared in the casting announcement, actress Vanessa Redgrave has said she is no longer appearing in the film.

"Vanessa Redgrave's name is being included in recent stories relating to the casting of the upcoming film The Man Who Drew God," reads a statement released on her behalf. "While there have been discussions about the possibility of her joining the cast, she will not appear in the film."

Despite the strong rhetoric distancing herself from the film, Redgrave remains personally connected to the project in a sense. After all, her husband of 15 years is the director Franco Nero. According to Deadline, he's still attached to direct.

Spacey has not yet commented on the casting. However, according to IndieWire, controversial director Paul Schrader did speak out in support of Spacey. "About time," he said. "If he's guilty of a crime, incarcerate him. If not, let him act. Many great artists have been bad people."

Spacey has been accused of sexual misconduct by multiple men since 2017, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department had investigated some claims against Spacey. However, prosecutors later announced that the charges against the actor would be dropped.
