Over the last year, Toronto's Lakeview Restaurant has had to adjust its "always open" motto due to COVID shutdowns. But early on in the pandemic, the restaurant rejigged its business model to open its doors to directors and filmmakers — and it appears that invitation has now come to fruition.

Locals will notice that the 24-hour diner at Ossington and Dundas has recently undergone a major facelift, rebranding itself as something called "the Red Carriage." Quelling rumours that the restaurant was closing, the Lakeview has revealed that the cosmetic change is actually related to a film shoot — though they're not saying much else.

"WE ARE CLOSED... for a film shoot!!!" Reads a couple of recent posts from the restaurant's Instagram. "Is the Lakeview a good actor or what!? We hardly recognize her!!"

According to blogTO, the diner's recent transformation is "for a TV series," but the Lakeview team are keeping all other details under wraps as they're "sworn to silence."

The recent film activity is nothing new for the diner, which has historically been used as a shooting location in movies like Hairspray, Cocktail and The Boondock Saints. The Lakeview was also famously featured in Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives back in 2013.
