As previously reported, Robbie Robertson and the Band will soon be featured in a new documentary called Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and the Band. Now, the film has been scheduled to open the Toronto International Film Festival.
The film will make its world premiere at Roy Thomson Hall on September 5. It's the first time a Canadian documentary film has ever opened the fest.
Once Were Brothers was inspired by Robertson's 2017 bestselling memoir Testimony. The film follows how Robertson overcame adversity to launch the Band.
The film will arrive on Crave later this year. It was directed by Daniel Roher and produced by Martin Scorsese, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard. Former Exclaim! contributor Sam Sutherland is also a producer on the film.
