As we edge towards the release of the insanely anticipated PlayStation 5, Sony has slowly but surely been lifting press embargoes, and today that finally means we are getting hit with a series of unboxing videos.
While Exclaim! has yet to nab a PS5, several publications and influencers now have the next-gen console in hand, and they are giving the rest of us an idea what's in store.
As an increasing amount of unboxing videos have now revealed, inside the PS5 box you will find the console (obviously), in addition to a base to hold it upright in a vertical position. You also get the new DualSense wireless controller, an AC power cord, a USB-C to USB-A cable to charge the controller, the printed manual and other materials, and an HDMI cord.
That last item — the HDMI cord — is of particular note, as the PS5 now includes HDMI 2.1 capabilities. It's a bit unclear so far, but we assume the cord included should be the proper one you need for that — or at least it should be.
Coming alongside the PS5 console is also a free copy of Astro's Playroom, which is intended to introduce players to the new features of the DualSense controller. This includes the controller's newly designed haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. And by the sounds of things, it's the controller that's stealing the show so far.
As the good people of Easy Allies put it, the rumble of the controller feels "HD," with "very specific, precise rumble" that is noticeable on distinct parts of the controller (unlike the PS4 controller that would just rumble all over).
They also explain how there is a "distinct feeling" when walking on certain surfaces, stating "you walk on metal you get that sense, if you walk on wood you get a different sense."
Down below, you can see a collection of PS5 unboxing videos, as well as some showing off Astro's Playroom.
The PS5 arrives in North America on November 12, with the console then getting a worldwide release on November 19.
Earlier this month, Sony revealed how the PS5 would work as a media hub, as well as announced Travis Scott would be a strategic creative partner at PlayStation.
