The image, available above, arrived via a "motion poster" that sees our hero collect a handful of rings before showing off his surprisingly buff, toned bod for the camera. Sure, it's still just a silhouette, but this does not look like the Sonic body shape we've come to know and love (and, for some, lust after).
Check out the poster reveal below.
As previously reported, this weird buff being will be voiced by Parks & Rec actor Ben Schwartz, while Jeff Fowler will direct. The movie is set to hit theatres on November 8, 2019.
Hopefully that gives them enough time to redo Sonic's bod. After all, the image seems to be universally hated by the hedgehog's fandom:
No, no, no. You misunderstand the situation. This is the first time the Sonic fan base unanimously hate the same Sonic related thing. There is no division for once. We all agree it's garbage. pic.twitter.com/aA8AKELBRW

if the poster is anything to go by, the sonic the hedgehog movie is about sleep paralysis hallucinations pic.twitter.com/iPi0iskwiI

Seriously, look at Detective Pikachu. Both are live action, yet the difference is night and day. I see Detective Pikachu and I think, yeah it may look a bit weird but I still see and recognise Pikachu. Sonic however you have to convince me that thing looks like Sonic. #SonicMovie pic.twitter.com/KGcjI5LGky

Why does Sonic look like a naked guy in sneakers? He's too muscular and his head is too big. I had low expectations for this movie but maybe that was too much hope to have pic.twitter.com/pOparY4OEY
