'The Bear' Star Matty Matheson on His Emmys Kiss with Ebon Moss-Bachrach: "I Didn't Really Expect That"

"It could've kinda kept going, I feel. He was really into it, and I loved it, and it was really beautiful"

FX and Disney's hit dramedy The Bear dominated its category at the Emmys on Sunday, but it was Toronto restaurateur Matty Matheson who really stole the show thanks to his passionate onstage kiss with co-star Ebon Moss-Bachrach following their win for Best Comedy Series.

After a few days of collecting his thoughts, Matheson recounted the viral moment on Q with Tom Power.

"He kissed me for a long time, and it was really nice," he recalled. "I think it could've kept going. It could've kinda kept going, I feel. He was really into it, and I loved it, and it was really beautiful and I didn't really expect that."

Clearly, if it hadn't been for that pesky award acceptance speech they had to give, Matheson and Moss-Bachrach — who play handyman Neil Fak and Cousin Richie, respectively — would've kept the good vibes going, and we really do love to hear that.

As if being named Exclaim!'s favourite series of 2023 wasn't enough, The Bear took home six Emmys, including acting awards for Moss-Bachrach and show leads Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri.

Matheson, who owns several restaurants in Ontario, was first brought on to the show as a culinary consultant before joining the cast as a supporting character and eventually getting elevated to a main role.

Watch his impromptu kiss with Moss-Bachrach below — complete with co-stars Edebiri and White's shocked reactions — along with Matheson's full interview with Tom Power.
