Loveable soccer comedy Ted Lasso's creators have been hyping up the upcoming third season as the show's last. Well, that might not be the case after all — at least according to co-creator and executive producer Brendan Hunt, who costars as Coach Beard.
Speaking with Consequence, Hunt confirmed that season three marks "the end of this arc" in the show's storyline. He suggested, however, that more arcs could follow.
When asked if it was possible that the show could continue past Season 3, he said, "Yes. Another arc is possible after this, for sure. We have always seen it as some kind of three-beat thing. Originally those three beats were more going to be modelled on what [the British] The Office did, you know, six eps, a special, boom, we're done. We've certainly expanded those beats, but it does not mean that the whole kit and caboodle is getting chucked."
Previously, writer/star Brett Goldstein (who plays the veteran Roy Kent) was asked if this would be the final season, and he confirmed, "We are writing it like that." Back in 2021, co-creator/star Jason Sudeikis was a little more open-ended, saying that there would be three seasons, and, "As far as what happens after that, who knows? I don't know."
Ted Lasso's third season doesn't yet have a confirmed release date, but it's expected late this summer.
