Talking Heads haven't reunited since the 2002 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony — the band have a famously contentious relationship with frontperson David Byrne, with Tina Weymouth throwing barbs at Byrne earlier this year — but that's about to change.
The band's original lineup is set to reunite at this year's TIFF on September 11, participating in a Q&A about their legendary Jonathan Demme-directed concert film Stop Making Sense, which is being restored and re-released in 4K by A24.
UPDATE (8/17, 9:29 a.m. ET): A24 has shared the official trailer for the seminal doc's restored release, which you can watch below.
The restoration will debut at TIFF, and it'll be livestreamed into different IMAX theatres around the world. Spike Lee will host a Q&A with the band following the film.
Talking Heads reunited in 1999 to promote the 15th anniversary reissue of Stop Making Sense before their last reunion at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They played some songs together that night in 2002; their TIFF reunion won't feature a performance.
