After obtaining the global streaming rights to multiple Studio Ghibli films earlier this year, Netflix has officially announced the launch of the animated catalogue on its Canadian platform.
Netflix Canada shared the exciting news today via Twitter, where it announced the June 25 arrival of 20 films on the platform.
According to the post, Netflix will start streaming the following films later this week: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Only Yesterday, Porco Rosso, Ocean Waves, Pom Poko, Whisper of the Heart, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbors the Yamadas, Spirited Away, The Cat Returns, Howl's Moving Castle, Tales of Earthsea, Ponyo, The Secret World of Arrietty, From Up on Poppy Hill, The Tale of The Princess Kaguya and When Marnie Was There.
The Wind Rises is also making its way to Netflix, but will appear later — on August 1.
International fans got a taste of the catalogue earlier this year when Netflix officially announced its Ghibli acquisition. With the exception of Canada, the U.S. and Japan, most streamers have been able to access the films since staggered releases began back in February.
