'Starman' Is Getting a Remake

Aside from David Bowie's iconic anthem, there's another piece of pop culture that bears the name Starman. Originally released in 1984 from director John Carpenter, the film starred Jeff Bridges. Now, the movie will be remade.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new version of Starman will be directed by Shawn Levy, who previously helmed the Night at the Museum series as well as the film Real Steel.

Levy will also produce alongside Michael Douglas — who was a producer on the original Starman as well. The movie is being written by Arash Amel, who handled the Nicole Kidman drama Grace of Monaco.

Starman tells the story of an alien who crashes into earth and takes the human form of a woman's dead husband. Inevitably, the pair fall in love while the alien man avoids being hunted by the government.

This isn't the first time Starman has made a comeback. The film was also adapted for a television series, which ran from 1986 to 1987.
