Ryan Murphy is bringing the Tony Award-winning musical The Prom to Netflix, and he's got quite the A-list cast coming along for the ride. The musical film will star the likes of Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Ariana Grande, Awkwafina, Keegan Michael-Key and James Corden.
Murphy will be directing and producing the project, Deadline reports, and it comes as part of his massive overall deal with Netflix.
Streep will play the role of Dee Dee Allen, while Corden will play the play's Barry Glickman. Kidman, meanwhile, will take on the role of Angie Dickinson, Grande will star as Alyssa, Awkwafina will play publicist Ms. Sheldon, and Key will be Principal Hawkins.
For the unfamiliar, The Prom tells the tale of four once-famous Broadway stars who travel to the seriously conservative town of Edgewater after learning about a lesbian student who was not allowed to bring her girlfriend to the prom. They want to help, but more importantly, get a bunch of press and relevancy back in their lives.
Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin penned the script, while Beguelin and Matthew Sklar will handle the music and lyrics.
The Prom film is set to arrive on Netflix in fall 2020.
