'Riverdale' Renewed for Season 2

The CW's Riverdale is not a show that should work. On the surface, it's just a lazy pastiche of Gossip Girl, Twin Peaks, Friday Night Lights and every other teen drama ever. Archie is a dumb sensitive jock who gets laid constantly, and Jughead hasn't eaten a single burger. It's absurd! Yet strangely the show is undeniably one of the best watercooler dramas in a long while. Thankfully, it's coming back.

Today (March 7) CW execs greenlit Riverdale for a second season. As of press time, it's unclear exactly how many episodes the show will have in Season 2, though hopefully it's plenty of time for the characters to get all hot and sexy in various locations around the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Hell, maybe Luke Perry will even learn how to act again.

Riverdale airs Thursday nights on the CW, with episodes becoming available to stream on Netflix the next day.
