Horror fans have been waiting for the day when the popular A Nightmare On Elm Street sequels would finally appear on razor-sharp high definition. Aficionados will be thrilled that Freddy's Revenge and Dream Warriors have been paired up in a Blu-Ray combo pack, most likely because no one would shell out cash for A Nightmare On Elm Street 2 alone. For the uninitiated, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 follows Jesse (Mark Patton), a young teen who loves dancing to Wish and Fonda Rae's "Touch Me" in the privacy of his bedroom, fleeing from a girl's sexual advances, and woken up every night sweating, with no pants, spending most of the movie shouting that Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) is inside him. Just like Jeepers Creepers 2, director Jack Sholder's sequel to Wes Craven's A Nightmare On Elm Street is full of homoerotic fare, unintentional laughs and is a much-maligned departure from the original film. A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors treats the second film like a drunken one night stand, pretending the previous events didn't happen. The film feels far more like a direct sequel to the first, as fans are re-introduced to troubled teen, now dream researcher, Nancy (Heather Langenkamp), who helps a bunch of psych ward teens become dream warriors to fight off Freddy Krueger. In spite of the fact that each of the so-called dreams warriors are "put to sleep" by Freddy in the next instalment, The Dream Warriors was the franchise's strongest and most successful sequel. The sequel was also the catalyst to a more catch phrase-friendly Freddy (which may or may not be a good thing, depending on who you talk to) and featured the most memorable deaths in the series. The special features for each movie are simply recycled interviews that may disappoint true fans. Nightmare On Elm Street 2 has four featurettes, which revolve around the homoerotic elements, and many flaws to the film, while 3 has seven featurettes that offer no new information about the film. The combo pack is nothing to scream about, though it does make the perfect companion for horror movie drinking games.
