The Kardashian-West family was thrown into panic back when Kim Kardashian was held at gunpoint and robbed during Paris Fashion Week back in October. Hubby Kanye West immediately cut his show short to deal with the "family emergency," and details later revealed that the reality TV star had been robbed of $10 million USD worth of jewellery in her rented apartment by assailants posing as police officers.
Now, actual French police have arrested 17 suspects — ranging in age from 23 to 72 — connected to the October assault, the Associated Press reports (though some other media reports only state 16 were arrested).
UPDATE (1/12, 3:20 p.m. EST): Paris officials have now confirmed that three suspects have been charged, with more charges expected to follow.
Raids at six locations around Paris this morning (January 9) uncovered firearms and 140,000 euros in cash. Police didn't confirm whether the five people that took part in the robbery (including the two that forced their way into Kardashian's room), were among those taken into custody. Police can hold the suspects for up to 96 hours before either charging them or letting them go.
"These arrests are a nice surprise because we might be able to find the jewels," Kardashian's lawyer Jean Veil told L'Express. He also called the arrests a "great satisfaction" in terms of both serving justice and shutting down rumours that the incident was a publicity stunt on Kardashian's behalf.
There's no word yet on whether Pornhub's campaign had anything to do with the latest revelations.
At the time of the assault, a spokesperson for Kardashian said that she was "badly shaken but physically unharmed." The TV star and social media maven hadn't updated her social media profiles since the attack until last week, when she returned to Instagram with a series of photos depicting her husband and children.
According to a recent trailer for Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the incident will be addressed in the upcoming season of the reality show. We'll have to wait until March to get fully caught up, but you can see a video preview of the next season below.
