Who knew that finishing shooting a movie could make you think about death and get sad and stuff? This was the case for Michael Cera, who says he developed post-filming depression after Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World wrapped.
Speaking with GQ in a video interview, Scott Pilgrim himself opened up about the movie's on-set warmth: "It was so much fun all the time because we just had the greatest vibe with everybody. That basically trickled down from Edgar [Wright, director of Scott Pilgrim], and the energy he was creating. We all got to rehearse together and spend a lot of time together before we even started making the movie."
He continued:
By the end of the movie, I felt like, "This is my world. This is my group of friends. It feels like it's always going to be this way." Honestly, I was a little depressed when we were done because it all just goes away, and you're like, "Where did everybody go?" You get used to that as you get older and as you're acting for a while, but I was sad to lose it. I could have kept making that forever, even though it was exhausting.
Luckily for Cera, he was able to reunite with his Scott Pilgrim castmates for the franchise's upcoming Netflix anime. If he still misses his days on set after it airs, he could always move into the house where Scott and Wallace lived.
The whole interview has Cera break down his other iconic characters, including George Michael Bluth from Arrested Development, Bleeker from Juno and of course, Alan from Barbie. Watch it below.
