He's depicted a vigilante serial killer as the title character on Dexter and sang the songs of David Bowie in Lazarus, and now Michael C. Hall will be joining TV royalty on The Crown.

The acclaimed Netflix series hasn't announced when it will officially return for its second season, but when it does come back, Hall will be added to the cast in the role of U.S. president John F. Kennedy. Quarry actress Jodi Balfour will pull a Natalie Portman and play his wife, Jackie Kennedy.

As such, the upcoming season of The Crown will find the show moving along into the 1960s — presumably including the Kennedy's 1961 visit to Buckingham Palace.

The first season of The Crown recently took home Golden Globes for Best Television Series (Drama) and Best Actress in a Television Series (Drama) for Claire Foy.
