It's been nearly two weeks since the tragic death of Friends star Matthew Perry, and his official death certificate has now been released.
The actor died on October 28 at 4:17 p.m. PT at his home in the Pacific Palisades. He was found dead after drowning in his hot tub, with fire department spokesperson Captain Erik Scott telling E! News that "a bystander had brought the man's head above the water and gotten him to the edge, then firefighters removed him from the water upon their arrival."
Captain Scott added, "A rapid medical assessment, sadly, revealed the man was deceased prior to first responder arrival."
The actor's cause of death is still being "deferred" after initial autopsy reports were inconclusive, however a toxicology report has confirmed that his death was not caused by a methamphetamine or fentanyl overdose.
Perry has been an outspoken advocate about his recovery from addictions to alcohol and Vicodin, with comedian Hank Azaria recently revealing that Perry helped him get sober and the Matthew Perry Foundation being established to help those struggling with addiction.
According to the death certificate, authorities alleged there were no other significant conditions contributing to the actor's death.
Perry was laid to rest at a private funeral last week, which was attended by his Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer, who had previously released a joint statement expressing that they were "devastated" by his "unfathomable" death.
Zac Efron, who starred as a younger version of Perry's character in 2009's 17 Again, was likewise devastated and said he would be "honoured" to play the late star in a biopic.
